Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0

Steps to reproduce:

I drill down into settings, via 'data management', and then select clear private at the bottom

Actual results:

After thinking, most of the time the button moves from red to gray.

However, sometimes, it does not. There is no rhyme or reason, as best as my testing can tell. Have tried this button, to duplicate the error on-demand, by clearing while in private tab mode, or with no web pages showing in a tab, or repeating the clear a second time. I can't figure out why it happens. While, silly, I even briefly consider that it depends on how long or hard I touch the button. This has been happening, it seems, following either the last update or a recent one.

When it fails to turn gray, I back down the menu tree, re-enter data management, and note that there is no web page data stored. Almost always, re-executing the button press will turn the button gray.

I do note a [perhaps related] error: sometimes, if I clear all data while there is a web page still on a tab, that pages web data is not erased, or most is, but one remains. I can imagine that this behavior is related to the web page polling something in the background, and not a bug, per se, but I am not sure.

Expected results:

The button should always change color
