User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Steps to reproduce:

Ctrl+Shit+H to open history and view some history and sort by clicking name column.

Actual results:

A little arrow with point down or up to indicate the sorting direction.
Windows and Linux are inconsistent.
If you sort ascending Windows will show an up arrow.
But Linux will show an down arrow.

Expected results:

Arrows should point the same way across system.
Which ever way is correct.
Maybe there is no correct way so choose one and make it consistent.

Hi scootergrisen,

In order to better investigate this, could you attack a screenshot of your results? How you are seeing the sorting arrow in Windows versus Linux.

Also, please test if this is reproducible in the latest Nightly version. You can download it from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/.

Let us know your output and thanks for your report!

Here you can see the arrow if pointing the opposite ways after a single click.

Hi scootergrisen,

Thank you for the screenshot. I tried to look for that menu on but I can't find the "Navn" menu. Could you please specify the steps and which version of Firefox you are using? (Release, Beta, Nightly)

I'll also add a product and component so the corresponding team can take a look at this.

Component: Untriaged → Bookmarks & History

Afaict, this was consistent with the respective file managers in Windows and Linux at the time of implementations. Things may have changed recently, Ubuntu seems to show the arrows same direction as Windows.

Anyway, this is probably in the tree widget.

Component: Bookmarks & History → XUL Widgets
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

Sounds like this is working as it was designed as per Comment 5. It's possible this needs to be revisited - if someone would audit the native file managers in windows and linux and show that the tree widget arrows are inconsistent I'm sure we'd take a fix.
