Details
Affected versions
- Firefox 68.0b9
- Nightly 69.0a1
Affected platforms
- Windows 10
Steps to reproduce
- Install an older version of Firefox (67.0b7)
- Update to the last build by going to hamburger menu -> Help -> About Firefox -> and click on the update button.
Expected result
- After the restart the Firefox icon is pinned to the taskbar.
Actual result
- After the restart the Firefox icon is not pinned to the taskbar.
Regression range
- This is a recent regression and is caused by the Pin Firefox shortcut on taskbar for Windows 10 featiure.
Additional notes
- If the icon was pinned to the taskbar on the older version, then after update is still pinned, otherwise it doesn't remain pinned to the taskbar.
- This might be an issue, because I think that most users update their browser instead of installing a new version over it.

Creating taskbar pins during updates (as opposed to new installs) is an enhancement that we haven't done yet (and might not ever do, thanks to bug 1558206) and we already have bug 1547945 on file for it.
