Although I am a robotics tech, I am still operating on what could be considered a "legacy" system. it is a Pentium MMX 200Mhz system with Win98, 40Meg RAM, 22Gig on 2 HD's, 56K modem, Crystalware Sound card and a Trident 9440 PCI video card. The problem that I am having is that graphics are appearing on webpages looking like they are in 16 color mode! Even the sites that have graphics of the 256 color variety! I am currently operating with a 19" NEC Multisync 5D monitor running at 1280x1024 256 color mode. Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 4.79 seems to have no problems at all showing websites with higher color resolution graphics, and yet Netscape 6.2.3 and Mozilla 1.0 seem to have the shared arrogance of assuming that everyone is operating with the latest "whizz bang" systems with powerful graphics cards. If I reduce the screen resolution to 800x600 at 16 bit color, then everything displays ok as far as the colors, however it also makes the screen seem HUGE and I am not blind... nor am I willing to operate my system at this lower resolution setting merely to satisfy the idiosyncracies of a web browser! I would also like to point out that there are several million schools and other "lower income" people across the US that are still using systems that, although capable of running Win95/98, are not capable of running in 16 or 24 bit color modes. This is a deplorable oversight and should at least have the option to be modified in the settings. I am sure that there are others who had this problem and merely deleted the program rather than complaining about it. This is NOT conducive to overtaking Internet Explorer, no matter how much better Mozilla may be. I look forward to hearing of some sort of fix or resolution in the very near future. Thank you for your time, Edward R. Paulsen

Sorry but your system seems to old. from the release notes : # Intel pentium class 233 MHz (or faster) processor # 64 MB RAM this should be a dupe of bug 88560 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 88560 ***

I was scool-Admin for some years, and the smalest problem was to find graphics-adapters, which can do 16bit (in fact the biggest problem was to find someone, who wanted to work with 256 colors). A 1 MB card and a 19" screen doesn't sound a very good decission in my eyes, maybe you should spend another 20$ for a 8 MB graphics adapter? btw., there are more 256 color problems... bug 104712, bug 73624 or bug 32501
