Hmm, sorry, but I've lost some context on this and can't remember for sure whether we proved that we can disable this only on linux. If I'm not mistaken, the patch to set the autohide pref did not work, and we realized the failures were only happening on linux, and I expressed my suspicion of panel-related code in linux - is this right? If I'm not missing anything, I'll r+ and we can land this.
