Details
0.9.9 build 20020310 on brand-new G4 iMac running OS X (10.1.5) with 256Mb RAM
connected to UNIX email server of some flavor [unknown to end-user].
Not sure if this is reproducible.
What happened:
Archiving email locally to subfolders created under Local Folders, when Mozilla
crashed. Didn't affect rest of end-user system, just Mozilla. When Mozilla was
restarted, local Sent box reflected move of the emails (it went from 120 to 84
messages) and end-user verified that they weren't there anymore. BUT the
destination folders DID NOT HAVE THE EMAILS EITHER. They have apparently
disappeared forever. Most distressing.
No idea which component of MailNews was responsible.
End-user machine is very stable overall -- the crash itself seemed due to
Mozilla application, not other factors in the end-user system. Cause of crash
and of data loss is unclear, however the data/emails seem gone forever.
And, supreme irony:
Was just about to upgrade to 1.0 when the crash happened. Most unfortunate
timing, I'd say. :(

Hello,
I don't know whether this bug is valid or not since this is hardly reproducible
and caused by an old build. This sounds like a corruption profile, did you try
to delete *.mdf files in the user accounts ?

sorry, read *.msf files in my previous message

-> invalid
we accept only bugs from the latest milestone and/or a 3-7 days old nightly build.
(because we have only test builds (no end-user builds) and bug reports from too
old builds doesn't help developing)
