We have an old version of pathfinder integrated behind a feature flag to render glyphs. Since then pathfinder's API has completely changed (we should use it behind fontkit) so there isn't a lot we can salvage from the previous integration when updating to the new one.
We want to change some dependencies common to pathfinder and webrender so removing the old pathfinder now avoids having two incompatible versions of these dependencies vendored.
I filed bug 1565568 for the new pathfinder integration.
