Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020615 Debian/1.0.0-3 BuildID: Debian 1.0.0-3 The code in the mozilla script under the section "## find /dev/dsp handler" is doing an 'fuser /dev/dsp', but fuser is blocking on a temporarily unavailable remotely mounted fs. From strace of fuser /dev/dsp': open("/proc/mounts", O_RDONLY) = 3 ... stat64("/proc/bus/usb", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0555, st_size=0, ...}) = 0 stat64("/proc/bus/usb/..", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0555, st_size=0, ...}) = 0 stat64("//tinhorn/c", <unfinished ...> //tinhorn/c in this case is a smbmounted filesystem, fuser seems to be choking due to trying to stat this filesystem, which is presumably blocking until the filesystem connection is re-established. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Mount a remote filesystem via samba, then make the remote system go away (power down/yank network cable.) 2.Start mozilla via the 'mozilla' wrapper script. Actual Results: Mozilla hangs on startup, prior to actually running Expected Results: Started. Workaround, other than unmounting the remote filesystem, would be to define the environment variable MOZILLA_DSP to the correct value rather than undefined or auto. Example: $ export MOZILLA_DSP=none (You may want to substitute 'esddsp' or 'artsdsp' for 'none'.)
> The code in the mozilla script under the section "## find /dev/dsp handler" is > doing an 'fuser /dev/dsp' This is only the case in the version of the mozilla script that Debian distributes. Please file a bug on Debian to fix their script.... Thanks, Boris
