Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0
Steps to reproduce:
Start up Firefox for the first time after powering on the computer.
OR
Opening a link from another program that opens in Firefox (like a link to an image, or a website)
Actual results:
- Firefox takes 30+ seconds to open, during which the entire system freezes up and becomes unresponsive
OR
- The link does not open
- Whatever program the link was opened from (Discord, Thunderbird, etc) freezes up
- Other programs start freezing up
- Explorer.exe freezes up
- Everything remains frozen for 20-60 seconds
- Everything un-freezes all at once
It only does this sometimes, not every time.
This ONLY happens with Firefox, my other two browsers (Edge, Chrome) do not encounter this weird freezing issue. It just started happening roughly a week ago.
Expected results:
No weird freezing when opening a link or opening Firefox for the first time.

I've tried a laundry list of "fixes" for freezing, nothing works. I tried disabling hardware acceleration, updated any and all drivers I could find, I even bit the bullet and completely uninstalled Firefox and erased the profile I had (after backing up a copy of course), starting completely fresh with a new profile and NO addons/extensions...this weird freezing problem still persisted.
Again, ONLY Firefox does this, neither of my other web browsers encounter this problem, so I'm 100% certain it's something within Firefox causing this issue. I just don't know what, because it just randomly started happening a week ago and I have not changed anything (no new addons, etc)

I've tried everything in that article. Nothing worked.

It is duplicate of the bug 1565902. A way that will help us to figure it out what may cause this "freeze" could be: install the profiler (http://perf-html.io/) and have it running and then capture it when the computer unfreezes; try this please.
Additionally, You could try even an installation of newest drivers.
What can I do further is to add a component, then someone from dev's team could give us a hand.
Thanks.

I ended up downgrading to version 67 again (build is from June 20th) and the freezing no longer happens, so I know it's definitely something with version 68, and it started happening sometime around July 8th or 9th.

Is this the same as bug 1565902?
Do you mind capturing a profile when the bug is occurring? bug 1565902 comment 6 has more info on how to do this.
