What versions of Thunderbird and Lightning?

2012 is over and you are not going to live forever.

Try something more reasonable.

Component: Untriaged → General
OS: Unspecified → Windows 7
Product: Thunderbird → Calendar
Hardware: Unspecified → x86_64
Version: 60 → unspecified
Summary: Endless loiop in Lightning calendar adding a long event (2012-forever) → Endless loop in Lightning calendar adding a long event (2012-forever)

Walt548 you are a jerk. And I hope you don't live forever.
Thunderbird version 60.8.0
Lightning July 11 2099

Thunderbird version 60.8.0
Lightning July 11 2099

Thanks for the information.
That version of Lightning doesn't exist. It is 6.2.8.

Version: unspecified → Lightning 6.2

Whatever. The add-on manager does not show a version.

Whatever. The add-on manager does not show a version.

It does show a tool tip if you hover your mouse pointer over Lightning in the add-on manager.

Another way is to use Help > Troubleshooting Information and scroll down to the Extensions heading. Sorry, I forgot to suggest that in comment 1.

Can you provide more detailed steps to reproduce? I don't see a forever in my New Event window. There is a "No end date" in the Edit Recurrence dialog. Is that what you used?

I've been confused with a few unclear new bug reports recently and also don't know what you mean by endless loop. Are there any error messages?

Please describe exactly what values you enter for start date, end date, until date and recurrence rule.

Based your description it might be possible that you mistake end date of the event and until date of the recurrence rule. If you specify an event that lasts e.g. one year instead of one day and set it to repeat daily, then Lightning will do as commanded. That means on day 1 you have one occurrence starting, on day two you have two occurrence, on day three you have three occurrences and so on.

Sorry, family and travel intervened. Cannot start Tbird at all if lightning is enabled, so I can't see the screen to describe values entered. With lightning enabled Tbird will consume 5-8 GB and 50% of the CPU without ever visualizing on the desktop. So, first question is how to I fix that problem? Thank you.

My advice would be kill the Thunderbird process and create a new profile.
