User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0

Steps to reproduce:

Running Mac OS10 and Firefox 68.0.1 on an iMac. I am able to log into Facebook but only get a blank, gray screen with the Facebook search bar at the top. Facebook loads and operates fine using other browsers on the same computer. Strong Internet connection. Other sites load just fine using Firefox. Here is what I have tried: disabling all Firefox add-ons and extensions, restarting in safe mode, clearing cache and cookies, clearing recent history, doing virus and malware scans (McAfee Total Protection 4.5.9), and even signing into Facebook as a guest. I do not have any hardware acceleration. Started computer in safe mode. No change. Also tried Firefox in safe mode. Other secure websites are loading fine. Facebook is still loading OK when using other browsers. Content Blocking is set at Standard. I did try "Forget About This Site" and there was no change. I am not a code reader or debugger so please help. Here is what I get when at Facebook:

Console
ErrorUtils caught an error: "[Exception... "File error: Corrupted" nsresult: "0x8052000b (NS_ERROR_FILE_C...". Subsequent errors won't be logged; see https://fburl.com/debugjs. 94Cgmloyu59.js:52:234

Debugger

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en" id="facebook" class="no_js">
<head><meta charset="utf-8" /><meta name="referrer" c.....

Actual results:

Nothing that has been tried has resolved the problem. Please contact me with further advice.

Expected results:

Facebook pages should have loaded properly with all functionality.

Hi Scott I tested this issue on Mac OS X 10.10 with FF 68 release and FF Nightly 70.0a1(2019-07-28) and I can't reproduce the issue.

Please download Firefox Nightly from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/ and retest the problem.

Can you please tell me if this issue occurs only with FF 68 or did you encounter it in the past with other FF versions?

This appears to be a dom storage error.

Since we cannot reproduce and are still waiting for a reply from the reporter. I'm closing this issue as incomplete. Please feel free to reopen it or file another ticket if you run into the same problem or can provide more information!

I am also affected. The stack trace is the same. The compiler crashed a few times. Unfortunately, I was not able to trace to origin of the error and clearing data of entire firefox in security settings was the only way I could get rid of the error. Clearing data specifically for facebook did not help.
Best regards

This looks like bug 1341070. It should be fixed in Firefox 70 when new LocalStorage implementation ships.

Priority: -- → P3

(In reply to Jan Varga [:janv] from comment #6)

This looks like bug 1341070. It should be fixed in Firefox 70 when new LocalStorage implementation ships.

Breakage for me happened more or less around the time FF updated to beta 12 from just the previous one.
And it lasted until I deleted webappsstore.sqlite and the storage folder as recommended in bug 1341070, comment 25 (I still have them around if they were needed)

Is that supposed to still be the case?

Corrupted webappsstore.sqlite shouldn't affect new LocalStorage implementation. However, your storage folder could be broken. That issue is tracked in bug 1482662.

The issue with your old webappsstore.sqlite and storage folder could be investigated by running a debug build on your side or you can send me those files privately.

Maybe it was bug 1522188?
Anyway since I can't build FF here, I sent the stuff to you.

I obtained your webappsstore.sqlite and it seems ok (not corrupted). The problem was probably somewhere in storage/ folder.

So... any update? I'm not sure what I should to with those GBs of "dead files".

Also IIRC "Clear Recent History" (with everything checked¿) didn't touch anything of that at all. Is that supposed to be the case?

I'm currently working on something else, but I investigated this issue already (thanks for sending me those files) and filed bug 1590640.

Regarding "dead files", can you keep a compressed backup of it for now ?

Yes, thank you. Take your time.

Just experienced this problem with Fx 75 and problem persisted after upgrading to 76. A localStorage.clear() on the developer console temporarily solved the problem for now.

Thank you Nils - that did the trick for me.

LSNG is enabled by default now, can we close this and bug 1341070?
