Hello everybody,

Since several days, Nightly sends sound to my laptop speakers instead of the bluetooth speaker on my Linux computer (Ubuntu 16.04, KDE Plasma desktop environment).

It doesn't seem to be related to my system, because all other software, like VLC for example, still sends the sound to the bluetooth speaker.

According to mozregression, this is the pushlog related to the version that introduced the regression : https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/autoland/pushloghtml?fromchange=e7d500f650ccfe119d46a36392fa641b47c142a2&tochange=790684b8a27c97bac4bb66338c182e8dfecbbf58
According to the pushlog, it looks like the regression is related to work on bug #1539225.

In the about:support page, in the multimedia section, I see both of my audio devices listed (internal & bluetooth).
The Audio Backend was "remote" when the sound was sent to the bluetooth speaker, now it's "pulse-rust".

I hope it helps, and thanks in advance

Thanks for the report.

:kinetik, could you take a look at this?

Hi Arnaud, thanks for the report. How did you configure Firefox to send audio to your bluetooth speaker in the first case? Would you mind pasting the media section of about:support into the bug? Also, can you check about:config for the prefs media.cubeb.sandbox and media.cubeb.backend and tell me what they're set to (if anything)?

Getting this out of the traige queue, please adjust as necessary.

I wonder if Arnaud's default output is set to the laptop speakers, but each audio stream has been moved to the bluetooth speakers in the PA sound controls. Bug 1539225 changed the name of the owning application of Firefox's audio streams from "AudioIPC" back to Firefox's brand name (e.g. "Nightly" in nightly builds), which would cause the audio stream to have different settings in the PA sound controls from before. This restores the stream naming behaviour to what it was before remoting was enabled.

A copy of the output from pactl info and pactl list while Firefox is playing audio might help confirm this.

Waiting for a response for comments 2 and 4, please.
