STR:

  1. visit about:logins in Nightly.
  2. Click the three-dots-menu at top right of the page area.
  3. Click your desktop, or click an icon on the Firefox toolbar.

ACTUAL RESULTS:
The about:logins menu remains open despite the fact that I clicked elsewhere.

EXPECTED RESULTS:
The menu should be dismissed when I click elsewhere.

Note: This feels like a separate bug from bug 1570709, which I filed it separately -- but it's possible it's just a symptom/result of that bug -- i.e. perhaps the fact that the menu-item has focus is what keeps its menu forcibly open? Not sure.

Attached video screencast

here's a screencast showing me opening the menu and then clicking a bunch of other pieces of UI, while the menu remains open the whole time (after losing focus partway through, too -- so indeed this is separate from bug 1570709).

Bug 1570709 should have fixed this.

I have verified this issue on the latest Nightly 70.0a1 build (2019-08-07) (64 bit) on Windows 10 x64, Windows 7 x64m Mac 10.14 and Ubuntu 18.04.

  • The "three-dots menu" is dismissed when another application is focused, when clicking on the desktop, or clicking on a button from the Firefox toolbar menu.

However, there are still a few scenarios when the "three-dots menu" is not dismissed:

  • If you click on the Firefox "Hamburger" menu.
  • If you click any of the menus from the Firefox Menu bar.
  • If you resize the browser.

Attached a screen recording with the described scenarios.

@ntim, should we log a different bug for these scenarios or should we reopen this one?

Yes, these are different issues. Can you please file one bug covering those 3 scenarios ? Thanks!

@Tim here is the issue logged that covers the described scenarios: bug 1573122.

Considering the fact that the described scenarios are different issues, I will mark this one as verified-fixed.
