Hey Raluca,

It looks like this was introduced in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1561547#c16. In FF 70, message center controls the badging of FxA toolbar menu. I suspect they will be prioritizing a fix during this release. I don't believe this is a blocker on the FxA toolbar menu side of things.

Hi team,

I was able to reproduce this in Ubuntu 18.04 in the following versions:

  • 68.0.1 (64-bit) Release
  • 69.0b11 Beta

On the latest Nightly 70.0a1 (2019-08-09) (64-bit), issue is not reproducible, blue dot appears after a few seconds as expected.

Don't you think it will be better to mark this issue as being blocked by https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1574166, not duplicate?

I'm putting a P3 priority on this. Currently, there isn't any blockers on the sync/fxa side of things for fixing this bug.

I don't think it's ok to mark this bug as Fixed, from the QA perspective, without an actual fix. Maybe we can reopen this and mark it as depends on bug 1574166. Wil please let me know what do you think about this idea.

Flags: needinfo?(wclouser)

I agree calling it Fixed doesn't seem right. I think it should be marked as a duplicate of bug 1574166. There is nothing for us to do here. Having bugs open in a component when there are no actionable steps from the component owners just makes it harder to find the bugs that are important to work on.

I also tested this on Mac OS X 10.14 and Windows 10 with FF Beta 70.0b4 and Nightly 71.0a1(2019-09-07) and the blue dot is not displayed anymore, the initial issue what that after a few seconds the dot is displayed, but now using the mentioned version the dot doesn't appear at all. Should we log a new issue for this or is the same and will be fixed in bug 1574166?

I don't think it needs a new issue - I would expect bug 1574166 to adjust this to whatever it should be.

This appears to be working in the latest Nightly. The blue indicator on the avatar icon appears when browser first opened.
