Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0
Steps to reproduce:
Tested/affected Firefox releases: 60.8.0esr, 68.0.1 (official Linux 64-bit binary tarballs).
Testing environment: Debian GNU/Linux 9; Linux 4.9 (amd64).
-
Start Firefox in normal mode.
-
Open a "Private Browsing" window.
-
Inside that private window, visit any web site using Disqus comments, e.g.:
https://blog.disqus.com/build-your-online-community-with-live-events#disqus_thread -
Scroll to the comments section (if it hasn't yet, automatically).
-
Find the blue round "(D)" icon (under the "Log in with", under the "Join the discussion…") and click on it.
-
A pop-up window (titled "Sign in to Disqus") should open (still in "Private Browsing" mode):
https://disqus.com/next/login/?forum=disqus&evs=...#!auth%3Astart -
In that pop-up window, click the gray "Forgot password?" link.
Actual results:
-
That pop-up window closes.
-
A web page titled "Reset Password - Disqus":
https://disqus.com/forgot/
opens in a new tab in the main (non-private) Firefox window. -
You can close that tab; BTW, that page's not saved in the History.
Expected results:
IMHO, new tabs and windows opened by "Private Browsing" web pages should remain there in the private mode.

P.S. If you manually copy-paste the URL of that "Sign in to Disqus" popup into a regular "Private Browsing" window and then click "Forgot password?", it opens in a new private tab, as it probably should be.
