Steps to reproduce:
I went back to 45.8 and 31.6, and, these printed blank pages. This is weird because KI am sure I have saved emails of pdf in the last few months without trouble.
Actual results:
When:-
- pressing "print" after print dialogue appears, nothing happens, the print queue is not started, and, there is no error message.
- trying to save to pdf, nothing happens.
Expected results:
In case 1, the email should be printed
in case 2 the pdf of the email should be printed.
Oh, 45.8 and 31.6 were slightly better, these printed a blank page!

Just so I understand, you were able to print and save pdfs in TB up until a few days ago?
Have you been able to successfully print from any other application?
Do you have multiple printers?
Have you changed anything outside of uninstalling TB and installing a earlier version?

Tried with TB 60 and Daily and printing works for me. So it seems to be a problem on Karl's Mac.
I suppose it's possible. I am using TB 60.8.0 . The problem doesn't exist with other non-Mozilla apps. It's unclear when this arose since I don't record triviality such as printing and saving pdf from email, but, it is recent, may be in the last week or so, and, also, I have no issues printing from other from Firefox above 68.0 which produces a print preview error. That didn't matter, I have switched (sadly) to safari.
I have multiple printers.
Tor and Chrome print ok, but, Opera is playing up..

It would be good to test Firefox since Firefox and Thunderbird use the same printing functions from the Mozilla platform.
I thought I had reported that Firefox 68.0.1 produces "Printer Error An error occurred while printing". and the problems probably started about the time that I upgraded to Firefox 68.. BUT,Firefox 64.0.2 seems ok., as does 68.0.
HOWEVER, its possible to launch Firefox 68.0.1 and Firefox 64.0.2 and run them both at once.. which was NOT possible previously.
Your suggestion that its a common service function that has been corrupted, or, is buggy, crossed my mind..
I didn't like to suggest that.
And now, I am grumpy.. I don't like the idea of having to develop my own set of regression tests for new apps like these..

I tried to export the email, that I was in the process of composing, as a PDF document to my desktop as "test.pdf" just now: and it appears to have done so successfully. I can print it also (to an HP
I am using TB 60.8.0 on Mac OS X 10.12.6 and thought I'd try to reproduce your bug ... I am sorry, but I could not.

Yes. Mac OS X 10.12.6 with TB 68.1.1 (64-bit) - it is working on my system.

Running macOS 10.14.6.
Printing either from Thunderbird 60.9.0 or Thunderbird 68.1.1 works for me.

Thanks for that, I haven't updates to 10.13 or 10.14 because i expect to loose a few apps I rely on..

The problem still exists on 60.9.0 +10.12.6, BUT, DOES NOT APEAR ON 68.2 +10.12.6!
Now, all I need to do is to get Thunderbird 68.2 to use my previous profile with several hundred folder, filers, and may be 1000 address!
Right now it doesn't want to do the!

My Last comment was a bit garbled.
Yes, I eventually go the right default folder in the original default profile, and, it all looks good.
However, it has NOT imported all my previous account settings, only the specific one I use as my main account from.
Plus, it DID NOT import my address book structure..
And, I also checked the Firebird print problem, and, that still exists.

Looks like you installed TB 68.2 into a different location and hence it created a new profile. Go to "Help > Troubleshooting Information", click on about:profiles and select the "standard old" profile.

Jorg, thanks for that, all good..
I had manually set the profile to the actually mail folder for my primary email acct. Setting the profile folder manually did not have the desired effect, using the troubleshooting mechanism worked perfectly!
