This is more of a pet peeve, but it irks me that we expand our sidebar panels by default because it makes it harder to see what is available. For instance, when the Event Listeners panel is open, I often find the options distracting and miss the other panels.

Good shout. I just opened Chrome and, unless I toggled a few settings ages ago, only "Call Stack", "Scope", and "Breakpoints" are opened with an "empty" message by default.

The other side of me feels like having them open promotes their usage, or at least calls them out to users, especially as Event Listeners and DOM Mutation are brand new features. Either way this is just a quick boolean toggle in our prefs, whatever we decide.

SGTM, Jason and I talked about this before.

It would be nice to open previously closed panels when they have "state"; like opening DOM Breakpoints when a user added a BP using the Inspector. Moved to follow up bug 1574530
