Sporadic failure to open composition window when using Firefox Email link function

Steps to reproduce:
Clicked "Email Link to This Page" button in Firefox.
Actual results:
About half the time active window switches to Thunderbird compose window and half the time it doesn't, requiring user to manually switch to Thunderbird in the Windows task bar.
Expected results:
Should switch active window to Thunderbird compose window 100 percent of the time when "Email Link to This Page" button clicked in Firefox as it did before on many previous versions of Thunderbird. This is the first the problem has appeared.

Okay I added the "Email Link to This Page" button to my Firefox toolbar from the Customize widget.
Tested with Firefox 68.0.2 and Thunderbird 69.0b4 on Ubuntu and could not reproduce in my brief testing.
A couple of questions.
Are you actually using Thunderbird 68.0 or did you mean 60.8.0? Check Help > Troubleshooting Information for the correct version number.
Can you provide some links where it didn't switch?

Ver. 60.8.0 (32-bit).

But tried it again and it did switch. On and off again glitch with no noticeable pattern. As I mentioned, this is the first I've encountered this problem having used Thunderbird for many years.

If you could give it a try in the latest beta and report back it would be appreciated. The closer we get to releasing the next version of TB the less likely we're going to fix anything besides major security issues in 60.
Let us know what happens.

Installed beta per link provided. Now experiencing sporadic balkiness in both directions:
Clicking on "email link" button in Firefox Ver. 68.0.2 (64-bit) frequently does not open Thunderbird compose message as active window.
Clicking on link in Thunderbird beta frequently fails to switch to Firefox as active window.

Additional: Problem persists when Thunderbird and Firefox restarted in safe mode.
Both programs are defaults in Windows 10.

That the windows open in the background is a known issue, see bug 1572970. This was fixed today. So all versions of Firefox and Thunderbird are affected, apart from TB 60 and TB 68 (which is due for release today).
I didn't read the description properly. It's not that the compose window doesn't open, it opens in the background. FF will eventually fix that. TB 68 will open FF in the foreground.
