The document begs for some format that makes it more accessible to contributors and collaborators. Single-threading-through-the-guy-whose-company-bought-him-Framemaker is getting kind of cumbersome. Plus I'd like some practice using DocBook in a more involved way, and for a large reference.

I'd like to express my *_unconditional_* support for solving bugs which - impedes the overall mozilla.org projects - affects (directly or indirectly) the quality, reliability, usability of reference docs - consumes unnecessarly a lot of volunteer time when alternative (and more optimal) tools, format, protocols could do a significant difference in many areas The whole spirit (its foundation, working protocols, structures, etc.) of mozilla.org is based on multi-lateral contributions and interoperability among machines, platforms, devices, operating systems, languages, internet protocols, etc. Fixing bug 157610 will not solve all the problems related to docs and documentation in mozilla.org. But it sure should solve a few functioning difficulties which "slow down" the working order of writing-publishing-updating cycle.

There's no NEED HELP on this bug, but it's been hanging fire for some months. I have some XML experience, and need more. Can I have this project?

Isaac: I would email oeschger@netscape.com directly to ask, if I were you, but it's a fair bet you can just work on this, yeah--if there were activity it would be posted in the bug.

Working on it. Isaac and I have been talking about this some, and I've been trying to put some stylesheets together that will get XML from FrameMaker and put it into passable DocBook: http://www.brownhen.com/XML/fm2doc.html http://www.brownhen.com/XML/fm2doc.xsl.txt

moving stuff over to an outside-the-firewall email for the time being, looking for people to pick these Help and doc bugs up for me.

I don't think DocBook is what we need. I prefer a more semantic structure. Probably need to create our own :)
