User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/76.0.3809.100 Chrome/76.0.3809.100 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Nothing, the issue happens arbitrarily.
My System:
Host: codingx1 Kernel: 4.15.0-55-generic x86_64 bits: 64 gcc: 7.4.0
Desktop: Cinnamon 3.8.9 (Gtk 3.22.30-1ubuntu4) dm: lightdm Distro: Linux Mint 19 Tara
Thunderbird: 60.8.0

Actual results:

Parts of the GUI gets completely black. This happens mostly to the popups for saving and other features.
Additionally labels gets lost (see attached image) or when clicking on "Reply" the message area is completely white.

Expected results:

It should by displayed as usual.

That is really odd.

I'm going to make the assumption that you are using the version of TB found in the repositories. As I don't have the issue on my end (using Pop!_OS) it will be hard to test it here.

A few things you can try.

  1. Toggle graphics acceleration within TB found under Preferences --> Advanced.
  2. Try the version of TB from our site. link: https://thunderbird.net/download
  3. Try the latest beta from our site. link: https://thunderbird.net/channel

Let us know if any of these resolve the issue.

I agree with Benjamin.

Before trying step 2 and 3 in his comment try updating your Linux Mint 19.0 Tara to Linux Mint 19.2 Tina with Cinnamon 4.2.3 and kernel 4.15.0-58-generic.

I've never seen your problem using the Ubuntu supplied or any Thunderbird supplied version of Thunderbird on Linux Mint.

Please reopen if you can reproduce using a binary of 68 downloaded from thunderbird.net

Yesterday I performed that update. I'm now running on:
Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon (Cinnamon version 4.2.3)
Kernel: 4.15.0-58-generic

The issue still remains. I'll attach an additional Screenshot of that behaviour.

Now I'll try the other suggestions.
