Details
From Bugzilla Helper:

I cannot insert links in mail messages... can you dear Mozilla friends???
If i try this is the result: Netscape <http://home.netscape.com/>
the word Netscape and the link near it...
the strange thing is that in my signature (an html file) the insertion works:
any suggestion ???
and another bug: if I send a web page, the addressee doesn't see properly the
link on top of the page if he uses Outlook Express but sees only the world not
linked ...
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.In messenger I open Compose or in navigator I click on File > Send Page
2.I type a word (Mozilla, e.g) and I try to insert> link I see the word linked
in Mozilla messenger and I send the message or, in the other case I send the page
3.I receive the message or the page with Outlook Express and: I do not see the
word linked and I do not see the link of the page sent on top of the sent page
itself
Actual Results: The bug is always "working"
Expected Results: I do not know if this is a problem of Mozilla or of Outlook
Express: it is a problem of "compatibility" ??? I would like that the addressees
of my messages could see the words linked

I've found myself a workaround...
to see a word linked in a Mozilla mail message working when people read the
message itself in Outlook Express I've to (within the message composer window):
click on Options > format > mark the item rich text (html) only or plain and
rich html text.
But is only a workaround...
the same thing I have to do if I send a web page...
Worksforme on 2002071508/win2K. Steps I followed:
1. Open html compose window.
2. Insert link with "mozilla" as Link Text and "http://www.mozilla.org" as Link
Location.
3. Sent this to myself.
4. Opened the received message with Oulook Express 6.
The received message on Outlook contains <a
href="http://www.mozilla.org">mozilla</a> (message source) which is a valid
hyperlink. Clicking on it opens the www.mozilla.org page in my default browser.
Paolo, the behaviour you described appears only when you send as plain text.
Check your Preferences->Mail&Newsgroups->Send Format. You probably have "Convert
the message to plain text" checked. Marking this bug as worksforme.

Dear Dimitrios, the behaviour you just described is the one that I do not want
with Mozilla mail (by the way the bug described is the same for Netscape 7
Mail): I try to explain better how the thing goes...
I open a new message window (note that I have checked Compose message in Html
format for my e-mail accounts and, in preferences>mail&newsgroups>send
format>ask me what to do because checking send in Html format does not solve at
all the problem I've described); when I write down the word Mozilla and then I
do insert>link>control V for inserting the link to http://www.mozilla.org/, the
message I sent to an Outlook Express addressee (not a Mozilla or Netscape
addressee) come out as you described it: "The received message on Outlook
contains <a href="http://www.mozilla.org">mozilla</a> (message source) which is
a valid hyperlink. Clicking on it opens the www.mozilla.org page in my default
browser".
What I want is the Netscape 4.79 mail messages behaviour: I want to see the word
Mozilla in blue and underlined and I want to click it to go to Mozilla's
homepage; I do not want to see the word Mozilla in black and the hyperlink near
it ;-)
Hope I have explained the bug.
And,please excuse me, but what is the exact meaning of RESOLVED WORKSFORME ???
I do not know it.
Thanks a lot to all of you folks !!! Bye :-) Paolo

Dear Paolo, thank you for the clarification but I still don't see where's the
problem. In Outlook 6 (or Mozilla), the received message is properly underlined
and colored as a link. The html fragment I posted is what the *source code"
contains and any mail client capable of displaying html mail should display the
above html as a properly formatted hyperlink. I think it's definitely an Outlook
issue.
Just for testing, send me directly a message with a link to the address
dipa@intracom.gr. I 'll open it with both Outlook and Mozilla to check if there
is any difference.
And check http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/bug_status.html for an explanation of
WORKSFORME and other resolutions.

Right.. I'm not sure I understand completely what you want here, Paolo, but I'll
try.
When you send an email with a link in it, it appears as this (if you don't use
the 'workaround'):
Mozilla <http://www.mozilla.org>
In OE (or Outlook).
What you want it to be, is just the word Mozilla, as a link to
http://www.mozilla.org.
Am I correct ?
If I am, this works, as Dimitrios stated.. you must be doing something wrong
somewhere.
I'm tempted to resolve this as WFM, but I'll leave it up to you, Dimitrios.
