But the messages showing as links and you can click them if you use the TB notifications. The "native" notification on Linux is a different story.
WONTFIX, Magnus?

What are Thunderbird notifications and where can be activated?
Anyway, since you support native Linux notification, I think the request is valid. Or you have to remove the native notification support and use only the Thunderbird notifications. But I don't think it's a good idea. Native Linux notifications are really good, and it's not unusual to see buttons on notifications as shortcuts to open things.

My experience with native Linux notifications is they show the number of new messages with the only the latest one in the notification. I could be in the Chat tab of Thunderbird with TB minimized while using Firefox, get a mail notification, click it and Thunderbird maximizes to the Chat tab.
To disable that new feature go to Preferences > Advanced, click the Config Editor button, dismiss the warning, search for and toggle "mail.biff.use_system_alert" to false.

Well, thank you for the suggestion, but this means that you didn't developed the native notifications well. A lot of programs on Linux, as Transmission for example, uses them without problems. So if you don't want to dev it properly, I suggest you to remove it completely from the code. No feature is better than a malfunctioning one.

I'm not sure why the Thunderbird developers decided to fix the bug to enable native notifications, but I wasn't involved. I don't even know how to code. Just responded to the NI as requested.
I'll confirm the bug and suggest you use the work around for now.

Duplicate of some other bug related to having actions in those notifications. IIRC it's not been supported in the past at least.
