This is related to 156007 but isn't a duplicate; I get prompted (oh do I get
prompted. I seem to get prompted constantly.) I am so tired of being prompted
that I have unchecked "Save form data from web pages when completing forms".
But none of the form data I have saved or set ever gets used. I have oodles of
saved form data and I still fill in my name, email, address... by hand in every
form. IE works, so I think I know what to expect (and I've really gotten used to
this working, snce I use IE at home :-)
It shouldn't be necessary to set a master password to get forms autofill to
work.If I am doing something wrong, there is a bug in the preferences interface
smewhere 'cause don't see a box to check to say "use the form data in the forms".
Wazzup? Bug or "feature"?
Vicki, please provide the Build ID you're using. Can you reproduce this problem
using a new Mozilla user profile?

Yes I could reproduce it with a new profile.
- I created a new profle
- I entered Forms Manager in the prefs for that profile
- I inserted my first (Vicki) and last (Brown) name and my email address
(vlb@cfcl.com) in the respective places
- I clicked OK
- I surfed to a Web pages with a form
http://www.macperl.org/mpo/forms/subscribe.html
- In the email address box on the form I typed
vl
- Nothing happend. Mozilla did not fill in 'vlb@cfcl.com'. IE would have done
so. That is the behaviour I expect.
Vicki, thanks for the precise steps. That kind of cogent information helps bugs
get quick analysis and action.
Unfortuntely, trying to reproduce them caused bug 158167 for me. Will try again
later.

Hmmm. I may have been mistaken. I just downloaded 1.1b and found the Fill in
Form menu item. I could wish it had a hotkey.
It's possible this worked before. This wasn't the interface I expected; I
expected more along the lines of the IE "WYSIWYG" auto-fill. Type a few
non-ambiguous letters and poof, there's the fill-in-text.
I would like to convert this to a feature request for (at least an optino) to
have Mozilla do auto-fill the way IE does. I have gotten very spoiled by being
able to type vl and have IE supply vlb@cfcl.com in any form field (especially
because that's often my "user name" on many login forms.
How do I convert this to a feature request?

You don't convert it. YOu close this one out as invalid and open a new report.
