After startup (or force quit) thunderbird shows an old (stale) filter search and its results

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0
Steps to reproduce:
Thunderbird (TB) hung, crashes or is closed (either nicely, or by force-quit because it is hanging). I restart TB.
Actual results:
When I restart TB the page displayed is the results of an old (stale) filtered search in lieu of showing the inbox (or startup page).
I have not found a way to undo this annoying characteristics.
Expected results:
I expect that TB will show the folder that I was in when TB was closed or crashed. At least showing the inbox - in full, not with some old stale filtering that I did over a year ago.

Well, in general, TB does restore the quick filter settings on restart. That's by design. I don't know what you mean by "some old stale filtering that I did over a year ago". Have you not used it for a year? How do you remember what you did a year ago? Did you not use filtering in the meantime?

Yes, I recall using this filter, I believe, late last year and the TB crashed while I was filtering, I think. Since then, each time I have to kill TB or when restarting after closing properly, it starts filtering according to that keyword I used then. I have used filtering since then, but it is that very old filtering that TB is using. It is as if it is stuck in some old settings. I have tried many times to 'reset' TB to restore the full inbox view by closing (or force quitting) TB when pointing to my full inbox, without any filtering. But it still restores to that old keyword I used last year.

No, it is not. Because when TB restarts it doesn't even restore the tabs that I had previously. It seems to restore some old settings I had a very very long time ago.

PS: If this is a duplicate of a previous bug, please provide a solution. I did not find the solution in your earlier bug report which is several years old. If it had been fixed, why is it reappearing in this new version 60.8.0. I never had this problem prior to upgrading.

Are you sure you are on 60.8.0? The latest stable version of TB is 68.0 which only happened a few days ago. If you could update to the newest version and let us know if the bug persists that would be very helpful.

Are you sure you are on 60.8.0? The latest stable version of TB is 68.0 which only happened a few days ago. If you could update to the newest version and let us know if the bug persists that would be very helpful.
sorry for the late response. I am now on 60.9.1 (64-bit) and problem persists. I notice that there is this version 68 which has some special synchronization that requires special care. It is not clear to me that it is what I want to do for my preferences. Thunderbird itself says it is up to date, so why the need?
