Once all the regressions and test issues related to running the toolbox in a content frame have been fixed, we should remove the preference.

Hum it looks like we are no longer really using this preference anymore:

Can we get rid of it? Or should we wait one additional release, just to be sure?

Sorry! This is being tracked at Bug 1585747, I have filed a duplicate by mistake.

For now it's "blocked" because I wanted to remove the platform workaround at the same time as the pref, and some tests need to be updated for that (see discussion in the other bug).

That being said, I often find myself using the pref to check if some weird behaviors are related to the using a browser element vs iframe with type = chrome. Last occurrence of this today with Bug 1594359.
