Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0
Steps to reproduce:
Set Firefox as default browser (Preferences -> General).
Merge the following values into Windows Registry.
(Change "-F66A7FFE1BF331E2" and path in accordance with your machine).
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML-F66A7FFE1BF331E2\shell\open\command]
@=""C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -osint -private-window "%1""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL-F66A7FFE1BF331E2\shell\open\command]
@=""C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -osint -private-window "%1""
Actual results:
Go to Preferences -> General.
- Firefox is NOT your default browser.
Firefox is NOT the default browser for opening external links.
Expected results:
Firefox should remain the default browser for opening external links.
There have been numerous requests over the years for an option to open external links in private mode.
Up until FF 69 the Registry change worked and FF remained the default browser.
I find the current behavior extremely wrong and annoying.
