Downloaded and installed TB 68.1.0 en-GB on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS Linux for testing with a new profile.
While checking preferences I noticed there was no default language in Composition > Spelling.
If I add a dictionary like French it shows as the default with no sign of English (GB)
The default language British English language should appear there.
It does appear for the en-US builds.
Marco, is this what you meant in the email?

Only TB and FF in en-US ship with a dictionary. Mozilla doesn't "own" any other dictionary and can therefore not package it.

@Walt:
I did a "Reply to All" twice, but your e-mail account returns my e-mails saying it is SPAM.
What I believe is that if I update from 60 to 68 or from 68 to 68.1 using the executable file, the Portuguese speller vanishes.
I only have the PT and GB spellers in my TB.

I must have been dreaming when I tested prior versions of the de and en-GB Thunderbird and had a spell checker.
Sorry for the noise.

As far as I can remember French locales of Thunderbird have always been shipped with a French dictionary.
I just verified: since version 68.0 the dictionary is packaged within in the omni.ja file.
