I don't have deterministic STR but we've noticed an issue in the wild where sometimes social trackers are displayed in both the social tracking subview and the cross-site cookies subview. Additional weirdness ensues in strict mode, when social tracker loads are blocked but items show up in both social tracking and tracking content subviews.

This may be true, where things show up in two places - we report on cookie blocking twice, once in social and once in cross-site tracking. Or we report on Tracker blocking twice, once in social and once in trackers blocked. That isn't the biggest deal.

But, when you see both cookies blocked and trackers blocked for the same resource, that doesn't make sense. If you block trackers from a social site, then there should be no cookie blocked notification since the tracker never loaded.

Priority: -- → P3

In bug 1584479, I'm introducing a new STATE_COOKIES_BLOCKED_SOCIALTRACKER which will allow us to deterministically omit social items in the cookies and tracking category subviews. That patches in that bug will contain all the necessary changes.

Let's keep this bug open, and once bug 1584479 lands, we can verify that this one is indeed fixed and then close it.

Is this the duplication we talked about recently and said we'd accept? I feel like this the desired behavior.

Component: Site Identity → Protections UI

Yeah, I think the discussion around this duplication resulted in the conclusion that we should just not try to de-duplicate. We can resurrect this if we change our minds.
