Attached video Video of issue

Affected versions:
Nightly 71.0a1 (2019-09-17) (64-bit)

Affected platforms:
Windows 7/10

Steps to reproduce:

  • Launch Nightly
  • Go to Amazon Prime and log in
  • Play a video from prime video
  • Toggle video into PiP window
  • Click on "Next Episode" in the browser window

Expected result:
The next episode should be loaded and played back in the PiP window

Actual Result:
Video is played back in the main window and PiP window remains frozen with a white frame.

Note:
Given that the fix for Amazon Prime toggle availability is not uplifted in Beta, this issue can't be reproduced there.

Yeah, this seems annoying. At the very least, we should close the PiP player window when we get to this case, but ideally we'd automatically attach to the next video.

Priority: -- → P2

This is likely related to bug 1582178.

Speaking with astevenson, we think the simplest solution is probably the best for now - we'll close the PiP player window iff the <video> being displayed is ever removed from the DOM. That will happen in bug 1583882.
