Details

Dropdown lists for back and forward shows the most recent tooltip, e.g. if you
hold the mouse over the reload button and get "Reload current page" as a
tooltip, that message will show over items in the dropdown list for the back and
forward buttons.

To reproduce:

1. Browse around a bit, so you have a session history
2. Hold the mouse over the reload button until you get the tooltip.
3. Click the arrow by the back button without triggering the tooltip of the back
button
4. Hold the mouse over an item in the list until you get the tooltip.

Result:

Shows the most recent tooltip (Reload in this case)

Expected:

Something a bit more relevant.

Win2K, 2002071408, trunk.
dup of bug 79240?
I read bug 79240 before posting this. I don't think this is a dup. Bug 79240 is
a request for seperating the tooltips of the back button and the list. This bug
is about the tooltip for the dropdown list being completely wrong. I suspect
this is a recent regression.
I can confirm that this bug is present in build 2002071722 (linux - Redhat 7.2)
using the Modern Theme.

Nick
Seeing this in all dropdown lists from buttons (print, get msgs).
This bug is also present in Moz 1.0 and NS7PR1.
Changing summary from "Wrong tooltip for back/forward dropdown lists"
to "Wrong tooltip for toolbar button dropdown lists (back/forward/print/get msgs)"

Simpler steps to reproduce:

1. In Mailnews - hold the mouse over the Compose button until the tooltip appears
2. Quickly move to the arrow in the get msgs button, click it and move mouse down

Tooltip for compose (Create a new message) appears over the items in the get
msgs list.
Summary: Wrong tooltip for back/forward dropdown lists → Wrong tooltip for toolbar button dropdown lists (back/forward/print/get msgs)
hmm i still think this syndrome would be fixed in bug 79240 / 71329
But this was also reported in bug 139381, resolved as dup of bug 147670
Yup, bug 147670 it is..
