Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

Steps to reproduce:

I am moving messages and threads to another folder with my mouse via drag and drop.

Actual results:

The message is successfully moved to the desired folder.

Expected results:

It would be nice to have a shortcut for moving messages and threads to another folder to make it more convenient.
If the shortcut is pressed a small "popup" could be displayed where one can choose to folder the message should be moved to.

There's an add-on that does that: https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-GB/thunderbird/addon/quick-folder-move/

Not yet compatible with TB 68, but I have a compatible version here: http://www.jorgk.com/misc/addons63/

Magnus, should we integrate something like this into TB?

Flags: needinfo?(mkmelin+mozilla)

I think this would be a great feature

Thank you for your suggestion but actually imho I don't think there should be the need for an addon to move a message to another folder.
And it not being compatible yet with Thunderbird 68 makes it kind of difficult for me.

Well, TB allows to move messages, just not the way you want. I gave the link to a compatible version.

Having a search field from within the context menu seems rather unusual (like the add-on). I'm not sure what we want to do here.

Could we please get back to this topic?
It is not necessarily a search field within the context menu but maybe a like a dialog.

Severity: normal → S3
