User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

Steps to reproduce:

  • Windows 7, Wacom Intuos 4
  • Draw a line in any drawing web app:
    quickdraw.withgoogle.com
    drawisland.com
    kleki.com
    www.pixilart.com/draw
Also this simple demo which shows the order of events: bitbof.com/stuff/event-order.html

Actual results:

Lines turn out messy, rendering the site unusable for drawing. (the mouse move events are out of order)

Expected results:

Non-messy line.

Works fine with mouse, and other browsers.

Summary: Mouse Events out of order w Pen → Mouse Events out of order w Pen (barbed wire lines)

Hi Benni,

Thanks so much for all the details and useful links. I've tried to reproduce this on windows 10 with a genius mousepen 8x6 (please don't laugh too much at how "antique" it is) but for me, FF works perfectly. Nonetheless, on Wednesday I'll be able to try this on windows 7. Maybe this is specific to Win7.

Meanwhile, maybe you can provide me with a bit more info. Does this issue occur with a fresh profile? you can find the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager

Can you please download Firefox Nightly from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/ and retest the problem and see if the issue still occurs there as well?

Thanks in advance, Flor.

Hi Benni,

I just tested this issue on Windows 7 but I was not able to reproduce it. The pen makes perfect circles and the event-order.html doesn't throw errors. I'll await your comments on the tests I kindly asked you to perform.

Regards, Flor.

Hi Florencia,
Thanks for trying to reproduce this problem. I did the additional testing with Windows 7, Wacom Drivers 6.3.36-1 (as well as the older drivers I had before)

With fresh profile (create a new profile > launch profile in new browser):
Problem persists

Nightly 71.0a1 (2019-10-02) (64-bit):
Problem persists

Also this problem persist when using Pointer Events.

On Windows 10 I have a different issue: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1584526

Flags: needinfo?(benni.vetter)

I also want to mention my tablets run well in other software (Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Drawpile, Chrome, old Firefox versions)

Hi Benni,

Thanks for the tests you've run. I've chosen a component for this bug so that the developers may look at it. We'll await their answer. If you consider that there's another component that's more proper for this case you may change it.

Regards, Flor.
