Hi, verified with a test try build received from developer:
Samsung Galaxy S9 (Android 8.0.0) - 055d0a1d-27ae-4d87-ac7e-8b7e1d78b470

  • fennec.settings_advanced.restore_tabs - works correctly
  • fennec.settings_advanced.show_images - the value is not updated to "user specified" after a change is made in “Settings/Advanced/Show images” from "Always" to one of the other options
  • fennec.settings_advanced.show_web_fonts - works correctly

Google Pixel 3 XL - e0b1c587-d0d9-433c-8bd3-f307cfe30261

  • fennec.settings_advanced.show_web_fonts - the data is not updated it's always "false" whether the setting is enabled or disabled, after a core ping is sent, from “Settings/Advanced/Show web fonts”
  • fennec.settings_advanced.restore_tabs - the data is not updated it's always "true"
  • fennec.settings_advanced.show_images - the value is not updated to "user specified" after a change is made in “Settings/Advanced/Show images” from "Always" to one of the other options.

Hi, received new build and tested with Google Pixel 3a (Android 9):

  • fennec.settings_advanced.restore_tabs - the default option is correctly set, to be "true"
  • fennec.settings_advanced.show_images - the value from when starting the application to run should be "default" as it is "Always", the value is not updated to "user-specified" after a change is made in “Settings/Advanced/Show images” from "Always" to one of the other options
    -this does not work with "Only Over Wi-fi" option nor with "Blocked" option
  • fennec.settings_advanced.show_web_fonts - the default option is set to be "false" even though when starting the application the setting is "true/enabled.

Hi, a try build that logs the pings was provided for verification. As per bug1584188,comment8 - a new check should be made on redash.
Checking the logged pings sent to Mozilla I was able to test and provide the needed updates as soon as possible and verify that everything works as expected.
Device used: Google Pixel 3a (Android 9)
Info/scenarios tested through cmd:

  • Snake Case
  • Default Value
  • Whether the field is updated or not
  • Whether the reset, if it was the case, is applicable or not
    Note for the encountered issues:
  • fennec.settings_advanced.restore_tabs - all the scenarios passed
