Expected results:

It appears that in Safe mode it doesn't crush, but this would mean to restart it in safe mode each time I want to open Thunderbird ... I don't find this to be an option, unless I could somehow set Thunderbird to always start in safe mode.
Can somebody help me to fix this never-stopping-crushing, or at least to find a workaround?
It's my first post here, hopefully I'm writing the right things.

This is caused by smartcard software commonly used in Italy, Athena for example. You need to update your software or inform the provider of your smart card software. See bug 1560052
