User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0
Steps to reproduce:
Unsure; I used to have DuckDuckGo as my default search.
Actual results:
Google and DuckDuckGo (and possibly others) disappeared from my list of search engines. The Default Search Engine selector was completely empty. Clicking "Restore Default Search Engines" restored Bing, Amazon, and Ebay, but did not restore Google or DuckDuckGo.
Expected results:
DuckDuckGo should not have disappeared.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Hi Ben, I think this is a bug we've seen before. Please could you do this:
- Go to Help -> Troubleshooting Information
- In the first section go to
Profile Folder
and select theShow in Finder
button next to it - Keep that Finder window open, and close Firefox
- Double-click on the highlighted profile folder
- Look for the
search.json.mozlz4
file. Move it out of the folder, e.g. onto your desktop temporarily). - Start Firefox.
Your engines should now be restored to the default settings.
Please could you attach the search.json.mozlz4
file here. It only contains details of your search engines and associated settings, and I'd like to verify this is a bug that I'm already fixing in time for the next Firefox release.

They are indeed back to normal. Thanks for that tip. I've attached the file you requested.

Thanks Ben, that confirms what I was expecting. Just a couple of other questions:
- Did you go into safe mode recently?
- Have you changed any other search settings recently?
- Have you had any other bad shutdowns/crashes recently?

I think the answer is no to all of those. The bug started happening pretty recently, and I can't remember changing anything about my day-to-day Firefox usage around that time. Sorry I can't provide any further info.

No problem, that is useful information to know.
I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of bug 1578807 since we've worked around the issue there, and that's the best place for tracking this.
Note to future readers: one interesting thing is the searchDefaultExpr date was Sun Oct 06 2019 21:58:19
- very close to the report date/time.
