Many people that I know use dictionary.com a lot to look up words -- many more
times than they use a search engine. It would be very convenient if alongside
Google, Netscape Search, etc., one could choose to use "Dictionary.com". Then
you could type a word in the address bar and could choose to look it up.
URL to open: http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=%s
I already created a keyword for this ("lookup"), but just typing in the word is
more convenient if you do it many times a day, as some do.

I'd really like to see a context menu "define" that would do this query, opening
it in a new window/tab.

I think that this should be implemented just like the search function is. I
think when you right click after you highlight some text, right under the web
search option should be define "whatever is highlighted".

I think that this is a great feature req. I cannot tell you how many times
during the day i pop up a new tab to dictionary.com to find out a word that I
want to learn the entymology or subtleties of.
I think there should be three ways of accessing a dictionary lookup:
I) For the mouse-less enthusiast (me)
Type the world in with type-ahead find, wait a second, let that word become
hi-lited and then hit some magic key combination that means 'lookup hi-lited
word'.
II) For the mouse user
Hi-lite and get the context menu (look up this word) as suggested by Dan Mellem
III) URI bar pseudoprotocol. Much like "about:" or "javascript", why not have
a"def:" pseudoprotocol.
IV) OK, maybe a hotkey that popped up a box where you could type the word.
The results for each of these interfaces should be display-able in either:
A. Toolbar Window
B. New Tab
C. New Window

That's an excellent idea.
To comment further: the Search Bar should be *configurable* to be able to use
many other search engines as well. THe Browser User should be able to manually
(if needed) configure the search URL as well as the keyword-entry procedure. For
example, I'd like to use not only "dictionary.reference.com" but also the search
engine at www.imdb.com, www.yandex.ru (russian search-engine) .. as well as any
site which has this capability.

I think this should be closed. In case there is something I'm missing, this request is a default feature in Firefox now.

It's not done as a context menu, and isn't available in non-Firefox projects.
