We need to make sure everything that would have been added to the registry by bug 675428 gets removed, so that nobody is able to get themselves into the bug 1496380 situation, but without modifying any other handlers (either our own or other apps with mailto: handlers).
That patch was originally backed out before reaching release, but letting this one ride the trains should be harmless since it would just try to remove things that were never there.

Minutes after I filed this, there was a patch posted to bug 1496380; if that's actually about to get fixed, we should hold off on doing anything here.

Bug 1496380 is now fixed (and I've verified that the fix works), so we don't need to do this anymore, and in fact I'm going to try relanding bug 675428 soon.
