Build: 2002072208 (trunk) on Win2k, WMP 7.1.
1. Load URL
http://mediaviewer.ign.com/ignMediaPage.jsp?media_id=1534741&object_id=482071&channel_id=74&page_title=Colin+McRae+Rally+3+Movie&adtag=network%3Dign%26pagetype%3Darticle%26site%3Dcubeviewer
,
2. See the FPS "Click here to get the plugin",
3. It should load the .avi file using WMP.
Works on Netscape 4.76, IE6, I remember I used to view movies on ign.com with
previous Mozilla builds (although I may be wrong because they used to have .mov
files which loads QT correctly).

WFM with Quicktime. I don't see WMP configured to default to WAVs.
Testing the URL here, Quicktime took over and i heard some fuzzy noise now and
then. The area the video should have displayed in was white and frozen.
Downloading the avi-file i could play it fine on WFMP. (It was some racing car
game video w/ good sound)
I disabled .avi in quicktime, but then i only get prompt to get plugin for
filetype text/plain. I can't get WMP to register for .avi files for some reason.
This is all testing on Linux/Crossover.

I just switched to QT6, which may explain this different behaviour, I previously
used QT5.0.2.

ok, I re-registered QT to support *.avi files and it now "works" with QT loading
embedded avi files.
Sorry for the false alarm, I thought WMP was supposed to pickup the avi embedded
files...
Propose to mark INVALID.
I mention "works" because QT6 barely hang Mozilla, QT5.0.2 was working
flawlessly. I believe there's a bug report about this. But this is out of the
scope of this very bug report, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't any
regression in the WMP behaviour. btw, why isn't WMP loading the .avi files
whenever a page has some available ?

I don't see how WMP can play AVI files by looking at about:plugins.
npdisplay.dll does not claim to support any AVI files types.
