Environment:
Device: Nexus 6P (Android 8.1)
Build: Firefox Preview Nightly 191010 (#12830611), Gecko 71.0a1
Steps to reproduce:
- Go to pinterest.com.
- Tap on the "Continue with Google" button.
Expected result:
The user should be redirected to a sign-in page, and after entering valid credentials, should be able to continue to the page.
Actual result:
The user is redirected to a blank page that does nothing.
Notes:
- Not reproducible on Firefox RC 68.1.1, or Chrome.
- The issue is no longer reproducible with a clean profile. But if multiple tabs are opened, the issue is again reproducible.
- It reproduces with dom.serviceWorkers.parent_intercept pref enabled, and disabled.

Mirabela or Sorina, the GeckoView engineers can't reproduce this bug in Fenix. Do you have any advice or additional steps to reproduce this bug that are not listed in comment 0?

I was able to reproduce this issue again today, with the latest Nightly build 10/24 (#12970607) with Nexus 6P (Android 8.1.0), HTC Desire 820 (Android 6.0.1), and Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 (Android 5.1.1).
I followed the exact STR, except now I was redirected to the sign-in page. So:
- Go to pinterest.com.
- Tap on the "Continue with Google" button. The user is redirected to the sign-in page.
- Introduce valid credentials.
Results: the user is now redirected to a blank page. On the Pinterest tab, I was signed in. But an extra blank page tab still exists.

Thanks! We missed step 3 (actually signing in).
James is now able to reproduce it. We was also about to reproduce after disabling Fenix Tracking Protection, so this bug is probably not caused by Tracking Protection blocking some Google login cookies.
I can reproduce the problem in Fenix (GV 70) and Focus (GV 71), but not in Fennec or Chrome. Fennec uses Gecko 68, so this might be a regression in Gecko 69 or 70 or something specific to Fenix's and Focus's handling of new tabs?

Hi, Chris!
I've tested on Fenix again with Nexus 6P (Android 8.1), to try to obtain more information. So, after tapping on the "Continue with Google" button:
- on 5/7 build (#11271828), and 7/19 build (#12001826), both with GV 68 the user is redirected to a blank page that freezes - the user is not signed-in, there is only 1 blank page displayed;
- on 7/31 build (#12121814) with GV 69, the same behavior: the user is redirected to a blank page that freezes - the user is not signed-in, there is only 1 blank page displayed;
- on 8/31 build (#12431812) with GV 70 the behavior changes in: the user is now redirected to a blank page. There are 2 tabs displayed. On the Pinterest tab, the user is signed-in. But an extra blank page tab still exists.
Thanks!

I cannot reproduce this now using the latest version of Firefox Nightly. I guess that this is already fixed.
miralobontiu, If you are still available, could you still reproduce this?

I am not able to reproduce this issue on the Firefox Nightly build from 11/29 (GV 96.0a1-20211125095031, build 2015848489) with Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 (Android 5.1.1), nor with LG G7 fit (Android 8.1).
