FYI if you've got a working Rust implementation now, symbols.mozilla.org does have a dormant feature where it can fetch and convert missing Microsoft symbols on-the-fly. peterbe wrote that in anticipation of me finishing off the C++ dump_syms rewrite but this would work just as well!

The patch has been merged:
https://github.com/marco-c/breakpad-win-update-symbols/commit/583ead4a53872300b0dcc14c62b72dfb3b856bbd
But after TC migration, we're still waiting for the hooks to be moved:
