Ctrl-click is so damn cool, but most of the time, I need to open a new window to
let it load the content without messing up with my activity in current window.
It would be great to have another modifier (Alt-click, for example) to open link
in new window without making it pop over the current one.

Afraid not. Although, can you show me the place in (whatever file) where
Ctrl-<mouseclick on a link> is defined?
