In Firefox on Firefox Preview, I see Roboto 16px being used for table text by default, while in Chrome it uses Noto Serif ~45px (medium). Precise font-family notwithstanding (and serif vs non-serif choices), the much smaller font sizes can lead to readability issues for users, as per https://webcompat.com/issues/42147. I suspect that we should default to a larger font-size on smaller screens, as Chrome does.

It looks like Fx Preview is not applying font-inflation to the table cells -- although in the screenshot in https://webcompat.com/issues/42147, it appears that it does apply inflation to some, but not the majority of them. We may want to tweak the heuristics that are determining this...

The issue still reproduces for me on my Samsung phone in the latest Firefox and Chrome builds (Chrome uses Noto Serif, Firefox uses Roboto 16px).
(Both for the testcase and on the live site in the URL field).
