Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0

Steps to reproduce:

Systems

MacBook Pro 2019
Mac OS 10.15 (Catalina)
Thunderbird 68.2.0

Dell E5440
Win 7 Prof
Thunderbird 68.1.2

Copied Profile from DELL to Mac
All accounts present, application works (almost) as expected
BUT
Mac OS Thunderbird does not appear to use cert8.db nor cert9.db files
Software Security Devices present in Windows 7 (manage certificates) installation (Profile) not present in Mac OS installation (manage certificates) Profile

Actual results:

If cert8.db and cert9.db files deleted from Win 7 Profile, they are recreated next time Thunderbird is started up
These new files do not contain the Software Security Devices found in the deleted cert8.db and cert9.db files
Restoring the deleted cert8.db and cert9.db files to the Profile reintroduces the missing Software Security Devices (manage certificates)

If cert8.db and cert9.db fires deleted from Mac OS Profile, they are not recreated next time Thunderbird is started up
Thunderbird appears to be disregarding the presence of these files

Expected results:

If cert8.db and cert9.db files are deleted from Mac OS Profile, they should be recreated next time Thunderbird is started up
These files would not contain the Software Security Devices found in the deleted cert8.db and cert9.db files
Restoring the deleted cert8.db and cert9.db files to the Profile should reintroduce the missing Software Security Devices

Sorry, discovered this after posting the bug

Perhaps this is obvious to the development community but in migrating the profile from Windows to a Mac one must not replace the pkcs11.txt file in the default Mac OS destination Profile with the pkcs11.txt file from the Windows source Profile. Without the correct pkcs11.txt file the system does not know where to look for the Software Security Devices in cert9.db

It would be helpful if Mozilla posted more definitive guidance as to how to move a Profile from a Windows environment to a Mac OS environment

Again apologies
