User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0

Steps to reproduce:

The font (size) of the folder pane differs from the rest of the UI.

It cannot be changed either. When setting a Global UI font in userChrome.css (as per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Pane_and_menu_fonts ) everything changes except for the folder pane font.

Thunderbird 68.2.0 (from thunderbird.net)
Default theme
macOS 10.13.6 (17G8037)

Actual results:

The font (size) of the folder pane differs from the rest of the UI.

Expected results:

The font (size) of the folder pane should match rest of the UI.

Can you please attach a (small) screenshot, use "Attach New File" above.

This was done in bug 1461026 and bug 1517148 to to simulate the look of the Finder sidebar.

Summary: Folder pane font differs from the rest of the UI → Folder pane font differs from the rest of the UI on MacOS

Changing the look of the folder pane makes the UI look horrible inconsistent. I think if one want to style the UI to be more like the other mac application, one should do the whole interface. Not just one part of it. Now it just looks like this is a bug. (Or worse, it makes it look like a cheap application. Which is a shame considering all the effort that has been put into it.)

However, -opinions aside- a bug here is that the folder pane does not obey userChrome.css. So I cannot "easily" corrected the font of the folder pane for myself if I wanted to. When setting a Global UI font in userChrome.css (as per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Pane_and_menu_fonts ) everything changes except for the folder pane font. Setting a more specific rule also does not work.

Please don't change the status of bugs. A decision was made, your agreement with the assessment is not required.

Looking at the referenced bugs, the change was to CSS, so I see no reason you can not change it with a userchrome.CSS change.

The patch showing what was changed can be seen here https://bug1517148.bmoattachments.org/attachment.cgi?id=9068510
