Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0

Steps to reproduce:

Go to YouTube.com, login to your account and watch a video. Go to YouTube's menu and select History.

Note: This was done in Safe Mode (no add-ons).
Note 2: Using Microsoft Edge with the same YouTube account, the video was instantly added to the watch history.

Actual results:

The video watched hasn't been added to the watch history.

Expected results:

The video watched should've been added to the watch history.

Hey djodars,

I can reproduce this on Chrome as well, refreshing the youtube history page solves this for both Chrome and Firefox too.
Not quite sure if this a browser problem first of all.
Can you check out if the video is added to history after refreshing the youtube history page?

Hey Timea,

I had this issue since October 25th (the date Firefox was updated to v70). Since then, I had watched hundreds of new videos, none of which was added to my watch history.

I managed to fix the issue today by clearing the cookies and localstorage for the YouTube domain and restarting the browser. As soon as I did, the next video I watched was added to my watch history.

Might not be 100% related to the browser but maybe an interaction with the new version and old cookies?

Regardless, I guess this can be flagged as resolved unless you judge otherwise.

Thanks!

Hey djodars,

What you say may actually be an effected of Bug 1591374. If this ever happens again, please also go to https://firefox-storage-test.glitch.me/ and check the results. If your local storage is affected this test page should show that.

Will close this issue as WorksForMe for now, but please do re-open it if it happens again as the LSNG issue is being monitored and user reports might reveal important affected areas.
