Steps to reproduce:

In Thunderbird 68.2.0 I sent an e-mail and I notice in the sent folder that it was saved twice. It is visible in Yahoo webmail Sent folder as well, not just Thunderbird. The e-mail was to a mailing list and it does not appear to have been received twice, or if it was then they have technology that filters that because it's only in their archive one time.

I cannot reproduce this issue, but maybe you can tell from the headers which differ.

I should note I have since upgraded to 68.2.1 and have sent another e-mail to that mailing list and it was only saved in the Sent folder once. I'm not sure if Thunderbird fixed the issue, but I didn't see it in the release notes.

Actual results:

The e-mail was saved twice.

Expected results:

The e-mail should have been saved just once.

IIRC yahoo is one of those services that saves the sent message server-side.

yahoo in a funk again?

That surely happens on outlook.com, see bug 1504329.

It certainly happens with outlook/hotmail and Gmail. Based on some recent post in support forums I have a feeling that yahoo have not started something similar. Funnily enough, I can not get my yahoo IMAP account to send mail, despite it providing incoming email upon receipt. All I get are email to every address yahoo has on file for me (5) telling me of a suspicious login attempt. The are just so helpful. It is ok to get mail, just not send it. I will have to follow that up when I get time.

Yahoo seems perpetually to be "in a funk". I have not noticed this particular problem recently. I'll check on it tonight.

I use Yahoo every day and I haven't seen this issue since I first reported it. I'm using Thunderbird 68.3.0 now. If it happens again I'll update this thread.

Thanks for the feedback.
