User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0

Steps to reproduce:

enable "hover text" in Mac OS Accessibility (System Preferences>>Accessibility>>Zoom section).
Open Firefox and press the keyboard key that was specified above (default is Command key) and move the mouse over any text on any webpage.

Actual results:

No text from any webpage is zoomed/magnified.

Now with the key still pressed move the text over Menu items or bookmarks in Firefox and the text does get magnified. (Note the same web pages in Chrome or Safari both work with this feature so it is not the OS or the webpage that is the issue).

Expected results:

with the specified keyboard key depressed and moving the mouse/trackpad cursor over text on screen the text below the cursor should magnify.

The attachment shows how it should look on a webpage (note it is not a screenshot of Firefox as there is no change when using Firefox so screenshot would have been pointless).

junkmailcw+FF, did this used to work and broke with the Catalina update or has it never worked?

I'm can't answer that as I didn't start using this feature with FireFox until I had Catalina installed on it.

I can't say that there isn't something going on with FF and Catalina as it may work differently than Safari and Chrome but those two browsers work with this functionality also in Catalina.

Sorry I can't be more help in this.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't see this feature in macOS Mojave. According to https://www.hellotech.com/blog/the-best-features-macos-catalina this is a new Catalina feature.

Ah you're right, it is new in Catalina. They did note that is should work with any text in any app. It seems like a statement like that would indicate there shouldn't need to be coding done to enable this but maybe they were a little "optimistic" in their description. ;) In any case its not working in FF so I'm not sure if this is a bug that needs to be addressed in FF or a feature that needs to be enables (and the article was miss-leading that is would work everywhere ).

If I should report this elsewhere let me know and I'll do that.

Thanks,

Chris
