Opened about:debugging on 72.0a1 (2019-11-04) (64-bit)
on Catalina (10.15.1 (19B88)
) and got this prompt.
Is adb
being accessed and could touching the file be moved to when remote debugging is actually being used to have the permission more contextual.

I don't know when this changed, but I'm on macOS Monterey (12.1), and it no longer provides an "Open" option in the dialog. The only options are "Move to Trash" and "Cancel", which means it's no longer possible to allow running adb, and devices can't be discovered/debugged.
I tried removing the ADB extension and installing adb separately (brew install android-platform-tools
), but Firefox appears to still be trying to use it's own version. Does this mean remote debugging is impossible on macOS now?

You can still allow the application, but after you see this popup you need to manually go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General. There you should find adb mentioned and you'll be able to green light it.

If people are using osx then maybe we should display a message in about:debugging
(and in tests that use adb) explaining this?
