Our telemetry on the Touch Bar is set to expire in 71. We collect data on how many times each button is pressed to determine their relative popularity. I would like to request an extension on this telemetry to version 77.
I want to keep the telemetry around since I plan to push for the adoption of different Touch Bars in different contexts, such as special inputs in DevTools. I might end up doing this work myself. An extension to 77 will give us until Q2 2020 (if my reading of the release calendar is correct...) to get going on these changes.
Patch (and needinfo on a telemetry peer) coming shortly.

chutten, I've tagged you for review on this as a telemetry peer. Georg originally approved the Touch Bar telemetry but I see that he's not currently taking needinfos. Please let me know if I should redirect this review.

Telemetry Peer review shouldn't be needed for adding/changing data collection. The APIs and definition files are designed to be self-serve as much as possible. (I'll still give it a look while I'm here).
Data Collection Review will still be needed before it lands, though.

This request is pretty similar to the original request at bug 1313429 comment 120.

Comment on attachment 9106471 [details] request.txt DATA COLLECTION REVIEW RESPONSE: Is there or will there be documentation that describes the schema for the ultimate data set available publicly, complete and accurate? Yes. This collection is Telemetry so is documented in its definitions file [Histograms.json](https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/file/tip/toolkit/components/telemetry/Histograms.json) and the [Probe Dictionary](https://telemetry.mozilla.org/probe-dictionary/). Is there a control mechanism that allows the user to turn the data collection on and off? Yes. This collection is Telemetry so can be controlled through Firefox's Preferences. If the request is for permanent data collection, is there someone who will monitor the data over time? No. This collection will expire in Firefox 77. Using the category system of data types on the Mozilla wiki, what collection type of data do the requested measurements fall under? Category 2, Interaction. Is the data collection request for default-on or default-off? Default on for all channels. Does the instrumentation include the addition of any new identifiers? No. Is the data collection covered by the existing Firefox privacy notice? Yes. Does there need to be a check-in in the future to determine whether to renew the data? Yes. :harry is responsible for renewing or removing the collection before it expires in Firefox 77. --- Result: datareview+
