I looked at a recent email I received from Mozilla and it says:
You're receiving this email because yoasif@gmail.com has a Firefox account and is subscribed to Firefox Account Tips.
You can log in to unsubscribe or manage your communication preferences at any time.
Users shouldn't have to login to unsubscribe -- even if someone mistakenly unsubscribes, the adverse impact of sending emails to people who do not want to be subscribed outweighs mistaken un-subscriptions or un-subscriptions from people who received a forwarded message.

I'm pretty sure we have a bug about this already but I can't find it at the moment. I totally agree with you and we're working on it. The summary of the issue here is that we have so many FxA users that we couldn't load them all into our email system with our current contract, so we've had to do a workaround to allow them to opt-out that adds the people who want to manage the email subscription to our system and redirects them to the right place. Unfortunately our only way of verifying the email address at present is the login step. We're in the process of fixing all of this now. It's taking longer than we'd hoped just because of the scale of it.

@pmac can you please link the original issue when you find it? I'd like to follow this ticket as this feels like a pretty dark pattern and should be a high priority for us to fix. :\
Is this bug the "original" or just a related one? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1560404

That is a good one to follow for this, yes. This is probably a dupe of that one. I'll mark as such. Thanks!
